When it comes to cooking steak and chips, using an air fryer (in my opinion) is sacrilege and not how to cook a steak. Maybe I am wrong and if an air fryer is your only option, then go ahead. I have always found cooking a good quality steak should be sealed in a hot frying pan or skillet and finished in a hot oven (cook to preference), this method has always given me great results.
