These traditional minced beef and vegetable pies are so quick and easy to prepare. They can be served with mashed potato peas and gravy as a meal or eaten hot or cold as a tasty fulfilling snack. Either way, this tried and tested recipe will give you perfect results every time.

Here’s a recipe for a delicious meat and vegetable pie:
Ingredients:
- 1 pound ground beef (or any ground meat of your choice)
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 3 potatoes diced
- 2 large potatoes sliced (for Mash)
- 3 carrots, diced
- 2 parsnips diced
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 sheets of pre-made puff pastry
- 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
Instructions:
- Preheat your oven to 365°F (180°C).
- In a large skillet or frying pan, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onions and cook until they become translucent and fragrant.
- Add the carrots, diced potato, and parsnips and cook for 5 minutes
- Add the ground beef to the skillet and cook until it browns, breaking it up with a spoon or spatula. Drain any excess fat if necessary.
- add salt and plenty of pepper
- Remove the skillet from heat and let the filling cool for a few minutes.
- Boil and mash the rest of the potatoes and add to the mix
- Roll and cut the puff pastry into 8-inch circles
- spoon the meat and vegetable filling into each round but don’t fill too much
- brush the outside of the circle with water, and fold them over
- Trim and crimp the edges of the pies to seal them. prick the top with a falk to allow the steam to escape while baking.
- Once baked, remove the pies from the oven and let them cool for a few minutes before serving.
Note: Feel free to customize the vegetables and seasonings according to your taste preferences. You can also use a homemade pie crust if you prefer.
