Gammon steak may seem like an easy option to cook, but when you are cooking it proffessionally it has to be done right. So in this post I have set out the basic Recipe to make the perfect Gammon, Egg, Chips & Peas.
There are so many different ways to cook this amazing Popular dish, below is a recipe that will make sure you get it right.
Very simple and easy to prepare with ingredients that can be souced from your local Supermarket.
Recipe for Gammon, Egg, Chips & peas
Ingredients
Raw Gammon Steaks x 2
Fresh potatoes x 3
Fresh Eggs x 2
Frozen peas 2 portions
vegetable oil
salt & pepper
Procedure
- Heat a pan on the stove with some oil in it
- When the pan is hot place the Gammon steaks in one at a time
- Cook one side until golden Brown then turn over and cook the other side the same
- Remove steaks from pan , place on a metal tray and put in warm oven to hold
- Peel and cut your potatoes into chips,
- Put the chips into a hot deep fryer and cook until start to soften but still hard in the middle
- Remove and strain the chips, allow to cool
- make sure fryer oil is back up to heat and return the chips to the fryer and cook until golden brown
- Remove chips from fryer and sprinkle with some sea salt
- Fry an Egg
- Put all cooked ingredients on a hot plate and serve
