Summer is a popular time for tourists to travel, and many flock to the United Kingdom to enjoy its beautiful countryside and diverse culture.

travel to uk

If you’re one of those tourists, or if you’re visiting family or friends in the UK, it’s important to know up to date requirements and itinerary for entering the UK. Luckily, there’s an easy way to do just that using our step-by-step guide.

Before you travel to England

This is what you need to do if you qualify under the fully vaccinated rules for travel to England.

Make sure to print a copy of all your forms and carry them with you in a folder at all times when travelling. This icludes printed version of your NHS covid vaccines(including your covid card) Your rciept for your covid 2 tests on return to UK and any other documents related to your travel.

Fill in your passenger locator form

You must submit your form before you travel. You’ll need to show your form when you check in to travel or board your plane, train or ferry to the UK.

You can submit the form any time in the 48 hours before you arrive in the UK.

If you’re visiting or returning to the UK on a cruise that lasts 19 days or less, submit the form in the 48 hours before boarding. If your cruise is longer, you can submit the form while travelling.

To complete the form you will need

  • Your passport details or the travel document you will use like your ID
  • A phone number and email address you can be contacted on
  • Your travel details including time and date of travel
  • Your travel plans after you arrive in UK
  • Where you have travelled in the 10 days prior to your arrival
  • The address where you live or plan to stay in the UK
  • Booking referance number and reciept for day 2 covid-19 tes for when you arrive in UK
  • The invoice number fr your quarantine hotel booking (if applicable)
  • Proof of both vaccinations and where you were tested (QR code is recomended)
  • Complete and submit your passenger locator form online within 48 hours of your arrival in UK.
  • Set up an account to save your details if you travel regularly

If you’re arriving in England and using Test to Release, you’ll also need the name of the test provider you booked with and a copy of the reciept as proof of purchase.

Complete your passenger locator form online

You can only complete and submit your form online at gov.uk

You can include multiple journeys in your form if you’ll enter the UK more than once in a 48-hour period.

It is a criminal offence to provide false or deliberately misleading information when filling out your passenger locator form. You could be fined, imprisoned or both if you do not provide accurate details about the countries you have visited in the 10 days before you arrived in the UK.

After you complete the form you will receive a QR code via email. You can print this out or show it on your phone as proof of completion.

You can only complete the form within 48 hours of arriving in UK. However, you can fill in most of your details and return to the form at a later stage closer to your departure. The information you put in will be saved automatically. When you select save and return later.

Find a coronavirus (COVID-19) travel test provider

After you arrive in England, you will need to take a rapid lateral flow test or PCR test on or before day 2. You need to book the test before you travel, so you can enter thethe test reference in your passenger locator form.

There are many bogus websites offering 2day covid 19 home test kits. Do not be fooled into paying overpriced self-testing kits. You will need to provide a legitimate reference number for your purchase. You will also be asked for a receipt as proof of purchase when you arrive at airport check-in. When you order your kit, you will be sent confirmation and reference number and receipt by email and txt message on your phone. you will be asked for your contact details when you order your kit.

To be safe from bogus sellers it is best to use one of the recommended sites on the gov.uk website. The prices may vary ranging from £10.00-£15.00. The website I recommend using (I used it myself)

                                                                                             tests4you.co.uk

Very reliable and immediate response with order reference.

When you have completed your form, you will be sent all the details to download (as shown below). Make sure to print this form and keep it with you (together with all your other required documents) in a folder.
